December 2009
Well it’s started as a frozen waste...with business nightmares for lots of people in terms of loss of productivity and loss of service....well, I’m pleased to say that here at Quicksilva it’s "business as usual" with all our staff able to get the job done from wherever they are...either at home or at the winter wonderland that is Langley Gate. The lawns are still pristine white as it’s just been too cold for a snowball fight this year...perhaps as things start to warm up we’ll get round to it...
November 2009
Call me an Old Hippy if you like, but this month’s banner image took me back to the days of peace and love... people relaxing together in the sun listening to live bands and causing no hassle... back then it was happening...
October 2009
Are there "Company Years"?... something like "Dog Years"? If so I’m certainly feeling them... I have my own birthday every year and then the Company’s as well and somehow the repeating cycles seem to speed up time.

I’m always interested in other points of view…how they can co-exist...and what experiences and beliefs shape those opinions. Coming across Wired’s 12 Shocking Ideas That Could Change the World this week really put me to the test. Many would dismiss these ideas on the titles alone as “not politically correct” but before you do the same, I suggest you give your own thought patterns a stretch and see if you can get your head around what drives these individuals’ maps of the world.
August 2009
There has been much chattering in the press over the last couple of weeks (yes, I have stuck my nose in, but I was only trying to help…) about the release of the Independent Review of the NHS and Social Care by Dr Glyn Hayes and the Conservative take on it. Of particular interest to those speculating is the suggestion that central architecture would be dismantled.
July 2009
Although we are not experiencing the long hot summer we’d ideally like, what little heat we are feeling in the UK is still having an effecting on some people…and nowhere more so than in Quicksilva’s part of the world.
June 2009
NHS Hospital puts itself on a diet... and having just returned from a break where the food was excellent, I need to join them…however, their efforts are proving to be more successful than mine will ever be...
May 2009
With the coming of light mornings I’m finding it increasingly difficult to sleep past 5am when us Early Birds start to tweet (no, not Twitter). This means I am having to go to bed correspondingly early otherwise I’m just not getting enough sleep.
April 2009
A Finnish study reports that a good night’s sleep could reduce hyperactivity and bad behaviour among children. It suggests that some children who lack sleep do not appear tired, but instead behave badly.
March 2009
GPs may be allowed to sell Over-The-Counter (OTC) medicines to patients. The Government as usual without any apparent thought around drivers of human nature and possible outcomes thinks it would be a good idea for patients to be more responsible for the management of their own conditions.
February 2009
It is amazing to watch the twist and turns (and wriggles) as the mainstays of the establishment are found to be rotten to the core. I feel like I’m watching a series of stones being lifted to reveal just how gruesome things have become.
January 2009
I’m writing this from the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Alice Springs, a place where I think Quicksilva’s health integration experience could be both useful and built upon...I’ve always maintained that we will work wherever we’re needed!
